Introducing our new blog feature: Alumnus of the Month
The month of May marks our new feature celebrating our exceptional alumni. Every month we’ll be publishing our a select alumnus’ career and personal achievements, as well as their experience on our study abroad programmes.
For the month of May our alumnus is Josef Guenthner, who has participated in three study abroad programmes with CBL International, this includes Cambridge Summer Institute, Oxford Summer Business School, and Dubai Business School. As part of the blog entry he shares his experiences during his studies at WFI in Germany, his participation on our study abroad programmes, an overview of his career and educational developments, future plans, and advice for prospective delegates considering spending some time abroad to study. And of course, he explains how he made it to be part of worldwide respected Rocket Internet group of start-ups working now from Berlin.
Our Academic Programmes and Partnerships Manager, Jola Merkaj, explained: “We have introduced Alumnus of the Month, a feature that aims to bring awareness to our past delegates’ academic and career developments, future career goals, and an overview of their experience in one of our study abroad sessions. I think it’s important to celebrate our success, which would not have been possible without our delegates’ attendance. We’re looking forward to publishing many more success stories, which will recognise our alumni’s pursuit of excellence, as well as their accomplishments.”

CBL International alumnus volunteering in Nepal to help those devastated by the earthquakes
In recent weeks two major earthquakes of magnitudes of more than 7.2 struck Nepal, killing and injuring thousands of people. The devastating news brought our attention to the great efforts of the international aid community, and people worldwide who want to do their part in helping. One of our alumni flew into Nepal, and joined a relief team to help out those devastated the most. It’s great news to hear about a brave and courageous alumnus, who is dedicating his time as a global citizen to help those in need, as well as delivering critical support to those devastated the most by the Nepal earthquake.
Volunteering can have an immense impact on the world but there are various other methods we can take to ensure that the international aid community is supported, especially those in Nepal. You can donate a small fee to local or international NGOs that are raising money and awareness for Nepal. A very good choice might be Help for Nepal which was widely reported on the news recently. Business, Economics, and Law Programmes in Oxford & EMBA Programme in Shanghai
Easter was a busy time for us at CBL International, with study abroad programmes taking place in different regions of the world that were primarily tailored to meet different academic areas. In Shanghai we welcomed EMBA participants from Kuhne Logistics University. This intensive short-term session provided comprehension into the international business strategies in China, logistics, and infrastructure in the East. In Oxford, we had an internationally diverse group of students participating in the business and law programmes, combined with industry visits and cultural immersion.
Our Academic Programme Advisor and Programme Director in Shanghai, Jennifer Chu, explained: “The EMBA study abroad programme provided numerous personal and professional benefits for delegates’ perspectives on international business. There was the unique opportunity to explore China’s diverse culture, and study its role and influence on the global economy during the intensive programme. My colleague and Programme Director in Oxford, Elizabeth Wood, agreed that this year’s Easter programmes were also a success in England. We’re excited to develop and tailor them for future delegates we will welcome in 2016.”
